fargone / docs / tunnels
Tunnels expose your local development server to the internet through Fargone. Useful for sharing work-in-progress, testing webhooks, or demoing.
Start a tunnel
fargone fwd 3000
This creates a public URL that forwards HTTP traffic to localhost:3000 on your machine.
Multiple ports
fargone fwd 3000,8080
Tunnel URL
Your tunnel is available at:
https://{your-handle}.tunnel.{FARGONE_DOMAIN}
For example: https://alice.tunnel.platform.fargone.sh
The URL is derived from your handle. If the name is taken, a number is appended (alice-2, alice-3, etc.).
Manage tunnels
fargone fwd --status # show the active tunnel
fargone fwd --stop # close the active tunnel
Press Ctrl+C while a tunnel is running to stop it cleanly.
How it works
- The CLI creates a tunnel record via the API.
- A WebSocket connection is established to the platform.
- When an HTTP request hits your tunnel URL, the platform serializes it and sends it over the WebSocket.
- Your CLI forwards the request to
127.0.0.1:{port}and returns the response.
All traffic is proxied through the WebSocket — no ports are opened on your machine.
Limits
- One active tunnel per user. Starting a new tunnel automatically stops the old one.
- 30-second timeout per request.
- Ports must be integers between 1 and 65535.
